On the Level Plumbing

Plumbing and bathrooms, Nottingham

The feel they wanted

Women-led and matter-of-fact about it. Reassuring, punctual, straightforward, for anyone who wants to feel completely at ease about who's in their home.

What the design did with it

The firm is women-led, and that had been sitting in the footer. Now it’s in the opening sentence. Arriving on time is the firm’s promise, so it became the headline: we arrive at 8:40, not sometime in the morning.

Harbour Loaf

Sourdough bakery and café, Worthing

What they asked for

“We want a site that feels warm and a bit salty-coastal, never posh.”

What the design did with it

It looks like the painted board outside a seafront kiosk. Today’s bake is the headline, in cream capitals on harbour blue, with the day’s bread listed underneath. The Sunday bread class gets one yellow card pinned at an angle, the only yellow on the page.

Holly Craster Photography

Wedding and family photographer, Alnwick

The feel they wanted

Warm, honest and a little wild, like the coast. Let the photographs do the talking; words short and personal.

What the design did with it

The home page is one photograph with almost nothing on it: a couple on a wet Northumberland beach at sunset, her veil lifting. Each wedding inside runs through the whole day in order, and prices get their own page.

Foul & Storm

Drain clearance and repair, Peterborough

The feel they wanted

Blunt and funny about a filthy job, deadly serious about doing it properly. No glamour, no pretending, just straight talk from people who've seen worse.

What the design did with it

Drain work doesn’t photograph well, and the firm knows it. So the one picture is a survey camera frame from inside a Peterborough pipe, roots and all, with the distance reading still on it. The out-of-hours number sits on hazard tape underneath.

Nice Numbers

Accountants for creative work, Glasgow

The feel they wanted

Bright, warm, plain-spoken, faintly cheeky. Accountancy for people who'd rather be making things: jargon-free, human, nothing navy about it.

What the design did with it

The brief said every accountant’s site in Glasgow is navy. This one has none: warm off-white, one marigold highlight, and a headline about people who’d rather be making things.

45 Minute Tyres

Mobile tyre fitting, Swindon

The feel they wanted

Clock-obsessed and cheerfully impatient. Speed is the product, the promise and the personality: brisk, modern, mobile, no waiting-room smell.

What the design did with it

The name has a number in it, so the number opens the page: a clock at headline size counting down from 45 minutes, and under it the site’s own line, “The name isn’t marketing. It’s the deadline.”

Stem & Stonecrop

Florist, Totnes

What they asked for

“About half of what I sell I grow myself on an allotment and a borrowed field outside town, so what's in the shop changes every week and I'd love the website to show that rather than the same five bouquets.”

What the design did with it

The headline is this week’s stock: dahlias, the last of the cosmos, rosehips from the hedge, sedum going over. It carries a date, and next to it is this week’s bucket on the back bench, with an order button.

Questions before you start

Short answers. The full steps, with how long each one takes, are on How it works

Can I have a website like one of these?
Yes. Choose your pages on the quote page and pay to start, then describe your business in a chat, in your own words; we play it back to check we have understood. Two or three design directions come back, you pick one, and your home page arrives in about twenty minutes. The rest of your pages follow about ten minutes after you approve it.
How much do websites like these cost?
You pay once for the build: £29 for the first page and £15 for each page after. Each site here shows its own page count and build price: one page is £29, four pages £74, six pages £104. Hosting is free for the first month, then one monthly plan, Business, which covers around thirty small edits by message and up to three sites. No contract. Its monthly price is on the pricing page.
What counts as a page, and how many do I need?
A page is one item in your site's menu. Stem & Stonecrop's four are Home, This week, Order & delivery and Weddings; Bottle Kiln Barbers' are Home, Prices, Is it busy? and The shop. A one-page site keeps everything on one scrolling home page. You choose how many on the quote page, and a page added later is £15.
Will my website look like one of these?
Not a copy of one. There are no templates: your site is designed from what you tell us, and the type, the colours and the photographs are chosen for your business. You pick between two or three directions before anything is built. If you like the feel of a site here, say so in the chat.
Do I need photos, copy or a logo to start?
No. Photos and copy are made for you, and two logo designs come with every build. You can add your own later, by message.
What if I don't like the design?
Nothing else is built until you approve your home page. Before you do, ask for up to five changes and one complete rethink, all included in the price.
How do I change the site after it goes live?
You message us, in your dashboard or on WhatsApp, and we make the change and put it live. New hours, a price, a photo of the van, this week's flowers, a new section. You never touch any code. Changes use credits from your plan: Business includes 500 a month, which is around thirty small edits; a new section uses more. Unused credits roll over.
Are these websites live?
Yes. Every link on this page opens the site itself, as it is now. Yours goes live on your own domain.

Tell us about your business. Your home page in about twenty minutes.

Choose your pages, describe your business in a chat and pick a design direction. Once it’s live, send a message whenever you want something changed.
